Thomas Frey has won a number of precedent-setting appellate decisions in Washington State in the areas of tort and first amendment law, church abuse, and civil rights.  Currently as senior counsel at Stafford Frey Cooper, Mr. Frey has served as the firm’s managing partner, chaired the King County Judicial Selection committee, and acted as arbitrator on the fee arbitration committee for the Washington State Bar Association.

From the beginning, Mr. Frey has focused on delivering wins for his clients in civil litigation, including construction claims and contracts, personal injury, product liability, property damage, civil rights and police misconduct claims.  He has vigorously represented the rights of clients in the areas of personal injury, defamation, discrimination, harassment and sexual abuse claims.

Bringing experience and a history of commitment to the Northwest, Tom Frey is admitted to practice in 1965 in Washington and Idaho as well as all federal courts in both states, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.  Mr. Frey has served as a Judge Pro Tem in King County Superior Court and has acted as arbitrator and mediator in virtually all types of cases.

Mr. Frey has written and spoken on a variety of subjects before the Washington State Bar, Washington Trial Lawyers, and the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers relating to different types of litigation, including municipal tort liability, libel and slander, psychological claims, and liability under Section 1983 of the Civil Rights Act.  He also does pro bono work as counsel for the Bar association on disciplinary matters.

He received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law after attending Seattle Preparatory and Seattle University; and began his career working in the Attorney General’s office.  Mr. Frey and his wife, Margaret, have three children and reside in both Seattle and Hayden Lake, Idaho.
