stafford frey cooper

Stafford Frey Cooper’s Toxic Tort & Environmental practice group offers experienced litigation services to property owners and lessees, engineering and design professionals, developers, transporters, government entities, manufacturers, suppliers and contractors.

Our attorneys represent clients in federal and state court and before regulatory agencies in a broad range of environmental matters involving personal injury/wrongful death, property damage or diminution in value, professional responsibility, property transactions, contribution, and insurance coverage.

Our team has handled toxic tort cases involving contamination and injuries from dust, heavy metals, noise, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, chemicals, silicon implants, formaldehyde, and fumes.  We have handled environmental claims under CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, FIFRA, Washington’s Model Toxics Control Act, and a variety of other statutes, as well as common law claims for nuisance.

A sample of our experience includes obtaining a defense verdict in favor of a major alcohol distributor in the nation’s first fetal alcohol case, winning Washington State’s first defense verdict in a formaldehyde personal injury case involving particleboard emission, obtaining a dismissal of herbicide/dioxin leukemia claims for a major chemical manufacturer, representing a major product pipeline company in claims arising from a rupture that released gasoline in a river, and obtaining a multi-million dollar settlement in favor of property owners damaged by underground leaking petroleum.
